Postgraduate scientific and professional studies have been organized at the then Faculty of PE, nowadays Faculty of Kinesiology since 1971/72 academic year. The postgraduate doctoral study of kinesiology at the Faculty of Kinesiology University of Zagreb is planned to become a full-time study lasting 3 years (or 6 semesters), but for the time-being it is organised and conducted as a part-time study with 630 contact hours and 180 ECTS credits. The postgraduates attain the academic title Doctor of Social Sciences in the field of kinesiology (PhD) with the qualification to independently design and conduct research projects and scientific work, especially in the domains of their specialization (kinesiology in education, kinesiology in sport, kinesiological recreation). The study is comprised of: compulsory and elective subjects, subjects of elective modules, lectures on various selected kinesiology-related topics, various research activities (participation of students in academic meetings, symposia and conferences, and published scientific papers), as well as of preparation and defence of a doctoral thesis. Rights to enrol on the postgraduate doctoral study of kinesiology are given to the applicants that have graduated from the undergraduate university study curricula of kinesiology and of adjacent and cognate scientific disciplines, being valid prior to the academic year 2005/06, and to the applicants that have graduated from the graduate university study curricula of kinesiology and of adjacent and cognate scientific disciplines, commenced in the ac. year 2005/06, who have GPA not less than 3.5, and and to the candidates with the academic title of Master of Science or Master of Arts.
