During the past half a century...
More than 3,650 teachers of physical education and organizers of sport recreation have successfully completed the four-year undergraduate university study programme and attained a baccalaureate degree in kinesiology. During the last five years (2000-2005) the average annual total enrolment in all four years of the undergraduate study is 1,295 full-time students. After the completion of the postgraduate study and by defending their Master’s thesis 240 candidates attained a Master of Science degree, and 79 candidates were awarded a social science - field of kinesiology - Doctoral degree. There are still a certain number of postgraduate candidates who prepare their Master’s thesis for the Master of Science in kinesiology and Master of Specialty degrees attainment. They are the students in
the last generation of the scientific postgraduate study outside the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). The same is valid for several Doctor of Philosophy candidates, with the Master of Science degree, who are in the process of attaining a Doctoral academic degree outside the PhD studies (tutorial system). The first generation of 57 students enrolled on their three-year-long doctoral study of kinesiology, prepared in alignment with the European standards and Bologna Declaration, in the academic 2006/07 year.
